A'Khuma - Original Work

Hey all,

I Get asked from time to time, what my favorite Original Work is. I Undoubtedly have to stop and think for a minute, because I do a ton of sketches and other things, but when it comes down to it, I always come around to an A'Khuma Piece I did last year.

A'Khuma by Drawn by Cliff England
Colored by James Anderson

I was lucky enough to have James Anderson color this one for me. Seeing original work colored brings a new depth and insight into characters that would otherwise see nothing but dist on shelves, or the insides of drawers or Portfolio books.

I always considered this Character as a Fantasy type character that portrayed the classic "Warrior" role, bound in Tribal & cultural type of artifacts and other items. The character is always a page stopper when people look at my works, and I thought I would share him with you today.

Thanks for dropping by! Make sure to like, share and comment on this work if you enjoyed it!

Vampire Hunter Cover Idea

Hi again,

Many, many years ago, when I was still in my teens I did a small storyboard concept for a Vampire Hunter. To this day I remember the character concept and have many images somewhere I need to revisit. One of the pages I found when delving into the older stuff this weekend was one of the cover concepts I did for this idea, as seen below...

Vampire Hunter Cover Idea - By Cliff England

I liked the concept of the character, and the idea, but the older I got the less I was interested in it due to it being so outplayed in movies, etc. I believe Vampires have a place in books, and on screen, but they tend to get played out fast and I just never found the fire in my belly to finish the concept.

I always liked this cover Idea though, so I put it here for your comments, likes and hopefully shares so others can see it. I will see if I can put together an 11 x 17 sometime this season. I always saw this concept colored with a Sepia/Monochromatic theme faded in  from the top down. Hopefully my colorist can make something like that happen... Enjoy!

Warrior with Lightning (Older Work)

Hey there,

When going through some older work that I use for inspiration for new work, I found this. I thought you guys would enjoy it. I remember doing this years ago, as an extra for a story I was actually going to do storyboards for, but never got around to it. As artists usually do... lol. Either way, enjoy...

I will showcase some more of my older work this week, as I enjoy going back for items I like updating to see how my skills have developed over time. Remember, I did this in 95', so be nice, and like, comment and let me know what ya think. Thanks for dropping in!

Sketches and Updates!!!

Hey all,

I have been very busy lately, and school starts up again this weekend, so I hope I spent enough time streamlining things that it is easier to keep you updated during my busy period in the Fall.

With that being said, I have started keeping some of the better sketches I have made, and uploaded one the other night that I thought you would enjoy... Dunadunadunadunaduna.... Baaaatmaaaaan!!!

Batman is Copyright DC Comics
Sketch by Cliff England

Some people have asked if I keep them, and my answer no usually. But, I think it's nice to see an artists raw talent from time to time. Sketches show skill, raw talent and feeling in the moments when it is being made.

I will probably turn this one into a full fledged 11x17 print next week, but first I have a few graphics to make and a a drawing to make for Xenoglyphs.com. I saw their project last week for the first time, and I thought it was interesting. Click the image below for more details on their stuff...

XenoGlyphs is Copyright Omar Spahi (To the best of my knowledge)

I don't want to step on their artists feet, so it will just be a single piece, to help them get some traction, like I did for Joe Martino and the Mighty Titan Project he did. I love helping out folks when I am capable of it.

I may post some more sketches in the future, depending on if it's popular with you all, but hang in there... my colorist James Anderson has recently came out of his cave and started producing again. Once he gets his side projects cleared up, I am sure he will have some surprises for all of us. I keep telling him to get his site up and running so I can refer coloring jobs to him...lol.

On a final note, you will notice a slight redesign to the site. You are now able to buy prints directly through this site. I have all prints done through a local printer and keep all funds in AZ whenever possible because I believe in supporting local business'.

I have also been doing some web work on the side, and more seems to be coming at me from every angle. It can get time consuming, so if I go out of contact for a week or so, don't worry. I shall return! My true love is drawing comic stuff.

Thanks for dropping in, keep in touch and make sure to like, share and comment when you get a chance. I love hearing what you guys and gals have to say!

Mr. Sinister

Hey all,

James (my colorist) surprised me today with an email of a colored Mr. Sinister. I didn't expect it so soon, so it came as a wonderful surprise, and I wanted to get it out so you could enjoy it.

I grew up in the 90's seeing the character in Marvel Comics from time to time, but he was never one of what I considered "memorable" characters in my own mind. He does have a fan following that loves him, and he does have a very significant costume design, and I wanted to take a whirl at it. Below is my attempt...
